Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia today inaugurated Fly91, a regional airline service and flagged off the first flight service between Manohar International Airport (MOPA) in Goa and Agatti Islands of Lakshadweep. On this occasion, Mr. Harsh Raghavan, Chairman, Fly91, Mr. Asangba Chuba, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and several officials of Airports Authority of India and Ministry of Civil Aviation were also present.
He also highlighted the multidimensional development for the civil aviation sector in the country. He reiterated the government's commitment to connect Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities through the UDAN scheme. He said that the aviation industry is hoping to increase its domestic traffic to 30 crore by the year 2030, which was limited to just 6 crore in the year 2014. Airlines have informed that in a phased manner, scheduled flights between Goa's Manohar International Airport and Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jalgaon, Agatti, Pune, Nanded and from Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune to Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded and Goa from March 18, 2024. Will be operated.
These new air links will meet the demand for better air transport across the country and increase reach to different regions. This will not only increase tourism but will also boost trade and commerce and strengthen the government's commitment to provide affordable, timely, safe and hassle-free travel experience to passengers.
