Cycle to School Book Launched

On June 3, 2025, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the ‘Urban Adda 2025’ event in New Delhi, coinciding with World Bicycle Day. During the event, he launched two significant books aimed at promoting cycling culture in India:

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the transformative impact of the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, highlighting its role in fostering a nationwide cycling movement . He advocated for cycling as a sustainable mode of transport and a means to promote healthier lifestyles, particularly among children.

These books advocate the urgent redesign of urban environments to support active mobility, healthier lifestyles, and safer public spaces for children. Speaking at the launch, Dr. Mandaviya remarked: “If we are to build a truly developed India by 2047, we must begin by safeguarding the everyday lives of our children, through safer streets, healthier public spaces, and accessible mobility options like cycling.”

The ‘Urban Adda 2025’ event brought together urban planners, health professionals, and cycling advocates to discuss strategies for integrating cycling into urban infrastructure and daily life.
