Digi Yatra Achieves Major Milestone with Over 10 Crore Passenger Uses

Digi Yatra, India’s facial recognition-based contactless air travel platform, has crossed the milestone of 10 crore user journeys across 38 airports in the country, underscoring the growing adoption of digital technologies in the civil aviation sector.

The achievement reflects increasing passenger confidence in paperless and seamless airport processing, enabling travellers to move through checkpoints using facial authentication instead of presenting physical documents at multiple stages of the journey.

Launched to enhance passenger convenience and reduce processing time at airports, Digi Yatra leverages Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) to provide a secure, contactless and efficient travel experience. The platform allows passengers to validate their identity digitally and access airport entry and security checkpoints with minimal physical interaction.

According to aviation authorities, the rapid growth in usage has been driven by expanding airport coverage, rising awareness among passengers and integration of advanced digital infrastructure across major airports. The platform is currently operational at 38 airports and continues to witness strong adoption among domestic air travellers.

The milestone is expected to further support the government’s vision of creating a technologically advanced and passenger-centric aviation ecosystem. Digi Yatra has emerged as a key component of India’s digital aviation transformation, helping improve operational efficiency while enhancing the overall travel experience.

Officials said the initiative has significantly reduced waiting times at airport entry points and security checks, contributing to smoother passenger movement and improved airport management.
