# Despite repeated disruptions by YSRCP MPs, Chintakayala Vijay questions prolonged delays in Special CBI Courts and calls for judicial accountability
The Rajya Sabha witnessed dramatic scenes today during the discussion on the Supreme Court Amendment Bill when Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Member of Parliament Chintakayala Vijay delivered a strong speech highlighting serious delays in the country’s justice system. Despite repeated protests and interruptions by YSRCP MPs, who tried to disrupt his speech, Vijay continued to raise the issue and urged the House to focus not only on reforms in the Supreme Court but also on the long-pending problems in special CBI courts across the country.
Speaking during the debate, Vijay said that while reforms related to the Supreme Court are important, equal attention must be given to the functioning of special CBI courts. He reminded the House that these courts were created to ensure speedy trials in corruption and other complex criminal cases. However, instead of delivering quick justice, many of these cases have remained pending for years because of serious delays.
Vijay drew attention to the 31 cases pending against former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He pointed out that although these are important cases, there has been no significant progress even after 13 years. The first-time MP also noted that eight judges have changed during this period, showing that the shortage of judges is one of the main reasons behind such long delays.
Raising a direct and important question, Vijay asked, “If even after 13 years the discharge petition is still being heard, when will the trial begin?” His remark highlighted the serious impact of judicial vacancies and procedural delays, and stressed the need for greater accountability and faster justice.
Despite continuous protests from YSRCP MPs, Chintakayala Vijay remained firm and continued to present his arguments. By strongly demanding reforms in special CBI courts and drawing attention to the need for timely justice, the young TDP leader reinforced his commitment to transparency, accountability and the people of Andhra Pradesh. His intervention brought renewed attention to long-pending issues in the justice system and is expected to strengthen the debate on judicial reforms and the need for faster delivery of justice.
